I think children should be taught how to self-regulate their emotions in kindergarten and elementary school.

Unambiguously yes.

Nothing makes me more nostalgic for the “sparkling NYC winter wonderland” than looking at a oily and dirty pile of snow slowly calcifiying to a block of ice on a street corner.

I think most estranged parents are estranged from their children because the parents prioritize their need for emotional comfort and validation above everything else. They can’t understand or accept the loss of parental control and eventually crash out.

“Trying your best” as a parent doesn’t mean their needs were met as children and it’s okay for children to be angry and upset about that.

So many estranged parents are unwilling to accept their children as an independent beings with their own thoughts and feelings about what they experienced.

Unlike two adults who can negotiate or choose to leave a relationship that’s not fulfilling their needs, a young child is at the mercy of their parents.

I wish I could talk with estranged parents without them getting defensive. “I made sure you had food and shelter. I didn’t hit you.” Yeah, that’s the bare minimum of what parents are supposed to do.

Just because someone gets a F and you get a C doesn’t mean you’re a good student.

We have a shit-poster government and among other, obviously more important things, it’s also very embarrassing.
