I saw two old ladies looking into the water, so I asked them “Sakana?” (Fish) and they shook their heads no and pointed. I gasped, clutched my chest, & nearly fell over.

It was an absolutely gigantic salamander. I cannot believe our luck. What a beautiful animal 😭

This is Clatteringshaws loch, in the Galloway Forest #DarkSky Park, home of the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Scottish Dark Sky Observatory. Construction starts soon and like a phoenix SDSO will rise from the ashes!
