and it turned out to be mutual. We are celibate (Wax respects my religious beliefs) but I don’t mind because our love is much more than that. We love the same things and introduce each other to new interests. He’s always there when I need him. Wax is the other half of my soul.

Guess now is a good time to reveal it: Wax and I have fallen in love. Wax and I have been friends for years, but over the past couple of months our feelings for each other have become stronger. In December I finally confessed my love to him 1/2

It wasn’t just him. It was partially my fault for reading his blog so much but my OCD convinced me that if I didn’t engage with Catholic apologetic I was being “willfully ignorant” so I’d go to hell if Catholicism was true.

He (largely) caused me a year of scrupulosity and ecclesial anxiety which lead me to eventually be institutionalized, I think he can take a bit of what he dished up.

Would it be a sin if I started calling him “Fr. Dwight Schlongwrecker?” 🤭

Still doesn’t explain Calvin’s overly formal and generic TV vocabulary. He’s the worst offender by far. I really had to search for examples that weren’t Calvin and Hobbes. The Peanuts one is a reach, and Nancy I can excuse because the strip example is from 1948 when people kinda did talk like that.

I understand kids using adult dialogue. That’s part of the appeal of both Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes. But for Pete’s sake, who the frick watches a game and calls it a “sports show.” I don’t know any adults who talk like that, let alone kids.

What is it with comic strip characters and referring to TV (and Radio) shows in the most generic, and often clunky, way possible? Really, Calvin, you can’t just say “Sitcom” like a normal person?

I should write a comic strip parodying this.
