Canadian friend of many Ukrainians. I am The Bookstore On Pluto on IG and www.thebookstoreonpluto.com. I'm just here for news on Ukraine (and other relevant world issues). If I don't understand why you followed me, I won't follow back or I might block.

A sanction with built-in loopholes is not a sanction, it's a feel-good virtue signal of epic proportions.

This statement Stoltenberg makes about these decisions being "the most painful" - fuck right off with that "woe is me" bullshit, those decisions were the EASIEST and LEAST painful you could have made. Throw him on the same pile as Obama, Biden, Sullivan, Merkel, Scholz etc...

Yeah he deserves any shit that comes his way, it absolutely wasn't the "most painful decision" - it was the opposite, it was the least painful decision. The pain was taken off NATO shoulders and left squarely on Ukrainian shoulders. Fuck him.

Also, corruption is a favourite issue opposition parties around the world use to attack the current ruling party and gain power for themselves. Yes, there is often actual corruption taking place, but how often do opposition parties that gain power using this issue actually fix it if they win? ๐Ÿค”

People opposed to this kind of thing often want a clean and simple solution that doesn't exist; sometimes the situation is and will always be messy and as voters we always have the next election to have our say.

Dave, what's your take on floor crossing? I'm not against the concept, as ultimately the MP was chosen to represent the local riding's best interests, not the party's. Plus, there's the fact having a snap election is not workable, as the MP can't assume to be the other party's choice. ๐Ÿค”

Speaking of RU propaganda, remember me filing a complaint with the CBSC re CP24 Toronto using TASS as a source? Even though CTV/CP24 was not found to be at fault and never admitted anything, I have not seen a single suspicious bit of "news ticker" info since then. They obviously got the message.

They keep in touch with family in ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ and face the same accusations of brainwashing as the lady in this article. Her family think the media in Europe operates the same as in ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ 2/2

I can confirm all of this from my own personal connections. One ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ friend in her 20s knows all the pols are crooks but ignores it all, struggling just to get by. Another is a successful legal professional who knows exactly what the truth is and lives in a weird mental fog, focusing on keeping 1/2

Something to watch for Mark is whether the budget passes in Canadian parliament today. If it doesn't, it triggers an election. The minority Liberals need only 3 other MPs to support it.

Russia will collapse entirely as long as its government keeps senselessly spending taxpayers' money, and taxpayers, on Ukraine.

Sounds suspiciously like Putin/Russia's "protecting Russian speakers" in certain areas of Ukraine which has famously not gone well for Russian speakers in those areas.

The thing was, when the Jays won in 92 + 93, if you managed to be close to a hot dog cart on Yonge St, they would sell you an uncooked hot dog because they knew you would never in a million years be anywhere near them ever again.

I lived @ Gerrard and Church in '92 and '93 and was occasionally moving in a direction I intended with all the thousands of other people on Yonge St. trying to find a cooked hot dog and it was a lot of fun. If the Jays win tonight I hope some people also find cooked hot dogs while they are partying.

All my adult life I was a centrist with conservative leanings (I'm 58 now). I remember 20 years ago a friend asked me what I would do if a crazy conservative leader emerged, I said I would vote for a sane liberal any day over a crazy conservative. That day came, last election I voted Liberal.
