The Purple Mountains record is the saddest, most beautiful collection of songs imaginable

Pavement closing their potentially final show with “Fight this Generation”, within a cocoon of psychedelic light; Stephen Malkmus (guitar) on the left and Mark Ibold (bass) on the right - both turned toward the center: Steve West (drums) and Bob Nastanovich (percussion, vocals, fire) who is pacing, profiled, arm raised in alignment with bursts of white light, and repeating “peace this generation.” Apologies to Scott Kannberg, who is out of frame to the right. Was the most impactful moment of the night for this dude — poignant, powerful.
