The most frightening thing is that this is the narrative that justifies the military in cities described in the memo leaked by TNR.

Some people don't want to pay taxes...not enough demand/opportunities for well educated people so taxpayers don't see the point. Educating children beyond their parents loosens the authority structure in the family system, some can't deal with that, better the kids be more like mom and dad.

Corporate and billionaires' interests shouldn't be flattened. Some corps need regulation, some billionaires understand the dangers of wealth inequality. Maybe we should stop using terms like "magnificent 7" for the monopolies that intruded into our lives & are setting up to rent us back our stuff.

The Democrats could look beyond their usual stable: say within the environmental and union movements. Lots of good ideas perking up there and those folks shouldn't be ( but probably will be) overlooked.

It didn't work with Covid. He thought if we stopped testing "there would be fewer cases" reported. Reality on the ground was expanding # of cases.

I think there's the manipulation of the price of assets going on as well. If to lower tariffs you have to invest in/buy US assets, then the price of those assets increases (good for real estate bros) and with more dollars coming from abroad, it strengthens the dollar so price and value inflation.

Back to the good ole days of the 1980s when your guides drove past the former slave market while speaking of the role Charleston played in the US Revolutionary War. As if the market and Charleston's role in the Civil War were not real.

I have met hit men. Their approach to their job is not unlike that of any professional. Rational and rhirough. Even if they were a fellow prisoner, they had to have coordinated with someone inside the prison administration with access to the cameras and other security.

I totally agree. What's more some western states have hampered their ability to raise taxes by passing TABOR amendments or referenda to limit taxation.

I am not convinced. The Anti tax movement was extremely disciplined by Norquist, every Wed morning the right wing operatives would get their orders from him. Pledges for no new taxes and initiatives @state level were very successful and since if you don't collect it, you can't spend it: austerity.

Don't settle, Harvard. Whatever belt tightening is required should be a shared sacrifice to withstand this extortion. Harvard was on the right side of the Civil War, it withstood McCarthy, surely it can survive Trump with its principles intact.

RICO requires an organization to have commited 3 predicate felonies. In these cases, where is the evidence that the organization organized/committed the behavior (felonies, assuming there were felonies)? Collective action is not (yet) a crime and organizations must be the felonious actor.
