Something is very wrong with the spiders of Sheffield. The Doctor and friends investigate.

Budget is not the issue with Doctor Who. The show looks exactly how it should in today’s TV landscape and that can be done without the Mouse. It’s RTDs rigid structure that’s the issue and it wouldn’t be saved by having more or less money.

RTD does wAcKy 🤪🤪 opening followed by mystery box cocktease based around a woman from 21st century London then a big finale where a Classic Who villain does a bog Earth ending disaster every time regardless of if it’s 3 episodes or 13.

Flux should’ve been the foundations for ironing out the flaws and improving the formula later on.

Season length is not the issue with Doctor Who. You could make an incredible season with 4 cinematic episodes. It’s RTDs rigid structure that’s the issue and it wouldn’t be saved by having 13-20 episodes.

So much nothing happens the Doctor gets his episode out in Episode 2 and just hits his head and falls asleep lol. And still nothing continues to happen. It's impressive how much nothing happens.

25 minutes of Patrick Troughton and Frazer Hines in a small set with a robot eating sweets and doing absolute bumfuck nothing for 25 minutes would be a more exciting thing to talk about than the actual future of the show right now, what the fuck is going on?

Honestly? The current state of the show is so fucking depressing with no news and bad shit leaking out about RTD2 leaving the entire thing in such a mess I would actually embrace Wheel in Space 1 as it gives us *something* else to talk about!

Twice in almost as many days that a major studio has immediately backpeddled on something they said (we won't reveal who the Cowardly Lion is, we won't release the finale in theatres) and yet the BBC are still pretending Ncuti left Doctor Who cause of his knees.

Every time a famous actor dies I always, ALWAYS out of interest look up their last role and when I found this out I may have actually laughed out loud. It's an.... interesting one, not sure he'd have chosen that if he could have TBH.

Donald Sutherland's last film role (yes, really) is on ITVX if you're interested.

Third Moffat afterlife *in a row*, of course, he's done many more (about six off the top of my head) and oh no I'm slipping again... SACK RU -

I can't remember whether it was the third Moffat digital afterlife that broke me or whether it was the knowledge that we were actually going to do that ending that did it but my brain did actually break and Wallace & Gromit didn't heal it immediately lol.

"SACK EVERYBODY, ALL NEW, NOTHING OLD, MCCOY ERA-ESQUE PURGE AND RESET NOW!" I remember it, lol, I wish I'd saved some of those before I nuked the place.

I mean, I still think that, but less extreme and less clips of Meat Loaf on Celebrity Apprentice.

I'll say this for Reality War - it took me a few days to have a funny five minutes over it cause the cinema experience was awesome, as opposed to my funny five minutes after Joy to the World on Twitter. I was calling for the Doctor Who version of the Russian Revolution lol.

I mean, not that RTD2 needs more random cameos and callbacks but Mel randomly turns up as a major character despite zero UNIT connections in the past (unlike Martha), but Martha is not so much as even mentioned despite the other two RTD1 companions appearing or alluded to.

Now we know part of the ugly truth around the Millie Gibson rumours last year it reminds me that Ruby is constantly made fun of and belittled in Reality War AND Martha remains elusively non-existent in RTD2, not even a mention, and Freema Agyeman has ALSO mentioned a lack of support from higher ups.

2. The Doctor does not know the situation or backstory, all he sees is a man who has committed an atrocity. After he knows, he realises that he may have gone too far.

3. Spend WAY more time on him wrestling with his moral compass over it.

Every else though? Yeah, pretty fair. Fuck terrorists.

How I think the torture in ISC could've been better handled to fit the themes of the story (none of them being "make the terrorist right")

1. Don't explain that there's a way to save everyone trapped in space. The Doctor thinks everyone, including Belinda, is dead.

I distinctly remember people leaving Empire of Death like they'd just been discharged home from the Somme. Reality War people were too bloody confused.

60s Who had more regular cast members so there's a few more per story, only Katy Manning and John Levene are left from 70-74 now, plus a handful of directors and guest stars.

And this isn't just Big Finish, well before the audios the original novels also just did UNIT I guess it was due to the reputation of his off-Earth stories being boring and convenience - if you need an easy UNIT adventure, you know what era to set it in. Every other Doctor gets the off-world stories

I think this fear is built mostly around how sparse the Pertwee era cast is now and the fear of losing everything whilst other Classic eras you can fill the gaps in and experiment but look, it's going to happen one day and we can't recast every 70s character, let's get Tim Treloar some new co-stars.

Some of the best Third Doctor TV stories *are* the unconventional ones! Carnival of Monsters is a massive pisstake on the whole show and it's genius. I also think we need to give him some new companions, like between Jo and Sarah Jane he pops off in the TARDIS as usual and has a whole era.

Expanded universe Third Doctor desperately needs to move beyond just doing UNIT stuff, cause I love the UNIT stuff and can easily pop a story in but outside of the confines of TV I wanna see him in stories like Web Planet or Greatest Show or Impossible Planet, totally un-Pertwee stories

Ooooo, both good choices.

Very unfortunate common denominator, and it’s not Manchester.

Wow that Millie Gibson interview is telling, the BBC confirmed did not defend her or give her any advice on dealing with the tabloid rumours, yeesh, that….. does not look good.

Idris Elba is a very, very good actor with the world’s worst agent. I’m not saying he should do Shakespeare but who the hell is recommending him this stuff?

Idris!

IDRIS!!!!!!!!

Bro. Come on. You don’t have the Ozzy or Anthony Hopkins excuse of probably being tricked to sell this stuff due to them not understanding.
