No, reckless would be a yellow card offense, if you wanna go law book on me. Careless is what you're looking for. And when you're a defender who is beat, you have a responsibility to be aware of the space you're in and the context around you. Joyner wasn't. He tripped a player. Foul for me.

Indefensible is your opinion. The law is tripping and you've got to interpret the situation to determine whether you qualify that as a trip ... and none of that is written in the laws! Which is what I did. I get you're mad and won't ever agree with me. I'm not trying to make ya.

The rule is that it is a foul if you trip (not no mention of intent, only outcome) or attempt to trip. Rest is up for interpretation. I am perfectly fine if you disagree with me. Doesn't bother me one bit.

Pretty clear case for me of an instinctive reach/lunge without ability to control pace or direction of clearance. Offside without really any questions when it comes to the law IMO.

This is a very difficult call for the AR. They’re the only ones with the smoking gun angle and the training and singular focus to call it. The fact that it’s foot to torso with another body complicates matters. Just glad I don’t gotta wield that flag. That one will always be “call on the field.”

It’s not, but the laws are grey and require interpretation and common sense. Does the touch change the foundational facts of the play and the way the ball is moving in terms of speed or direction? If not, to me not “enough.”
