I still feel so much pain that I lost one of my best friends. I want to make amends, but alas I can't.
The thing that pains me the most is that we separated shortly after she started her transition. I missed all the happiness she found in her life, all the love she started to find for herself.

Trauma can have so many different ways of affecting us but I often see it boiling down to people wanting to hurt the world that hurt them or simply not caring anymore for who they hurt themselves. Giving in to that instinct isn't healing, yet it gets often glorified as that.
