Anyone who happened to know that the White House would announce and then suspend tariffs within 24 hours just made a boatload of money.

"You idiots don't understand H-1B visas," explained the rich tech exec. "It's easier to exploit foreign workers, telling them to put in 100 hours a week or they'll get deported."

"Americans think they deserve things like 'rights' and 'weekends,'" he went on. "And that's, like, really unfair to me."

Still working it out, often explicitly saying to propose a solution before writing code, ask for clarifications if needed.
Just started trying a more generic prompt that covers various things stored in a .md file in the project which I can reference so that I don't need to keep repeating.

Pretty sure that @swardley.bsky.social already did the former without needing an LLM.

Am I doing it wrong, I concluded that I liked Copilot (with Claude) and preferred it to Windsurf.
I found windsurf just too damn eager to change a load of code at once and hard to rein in to smaller iterative changes.
Might give it another go though.

As an English teacher with sixteen years in the classroom, THIS all day long. Comics are the most effective gateway drug for reading that there is. More comics in school libraries has to be the goal of anyone serious about literacy. If you are a UK school library we can help with that. Please let us

Yeah! Although my excitement might have been a bit premature. Gonna have to wait until Christmas for the actual teddy bear. Yesterday's was the teeniest bar of Lindt. Still yummy though 🀷

Supermarket delivery. My Terry’s Chocolate Orange advent calendar has been substituted for a Lindt teddy bear calendar.
I’ll take that as a win

Windsurf Editor by Codeium Tomorrow's editor, today. Windsurf Editor is the first AI agent-powered IDE that keeps developers in the flow. Available today on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Toying with Windsurf IDE, trying to pair with it.
Equally impressed and frustrated, like pairing with an over keen dev who wants to change everything at once.

Keeping it under control by asking it to explain the changes it wants to make before letting it implement them.

Screenshot from a scan of page 289 of an 1863 English translation of Don Quixote. The text is set in two columns. In the left column, we read in part β€œthou hast hit the point, Sancho, which can alone shake my resolution”, and on the right β€œthy share of the booty would would have been at least the emperor’s crown of gold”; by coincidence, these align so that the phrase β€œshake my booty” can be read across the columns.

Books designed to be read only by human eyes are different from books designed to be read by machines, which is why Google will tell you that the phrase β€œshake my booty” can be found in an 1863 English translation of Don Quixote.

Re-reading Recursion by Blake Crouch, ironically I don’t remember much of it from the first time around.
