Colourful succulent plant.

"A Sleepy Orange butterfly—its wings glowing like citrus caught in afternoon light—rests delicately on a violet bloom of Verbena rigida. The butterfly’s forewings, edged in smoky brown, are held slightly ajar, casting soft shadows on its underwings like sunlit curtains drawn back. A single dark mark near the leading-edge hints at the “sleepy eye” for which it’s named, subtle but sure—a signature folded into nature’s script. A striking bird with deep blue wings, chestnut flanks, and a long pointed bill perches among dense green foliage. Pale silvery plumes extend from its head and neck, and its feathers shimmer with fine detail.

The Agami Herons are very busy right now collecting twigs for their nests. One adult will collect sticks and then the mates will debate the best location for said twig. I'm going to spend some time over the next few weeks documenting the nesting of these amazing birds.
