The neighbors are out of view, but I cringe when I hear shots. It's been a long time since I have heard coyotes, much less wolves. Only relatively quiet nocturnal or twilight predators escape the gun.

The mountain lions dominated the scene here for a long time. This year's twist towards bobcats is a bit new. Got neighbors that get bent out of shape to hear the female calls (otherwise you seldom hear them) so they shoot the "noisy" cougars, coyotes, & wolves. The bobcats come to fill in the gap.

In an out-building/structure near my garden, rats & mice populations soared with the mild summer. The garden was decimated & the building infested. 😡 Pissed I set traps and debated poisons I despise. Holding out, I saw bobcats lurking and owls swooping and the rodent population dropped like a rock.
