In the U.S., elections are the responsibility of state and local governments -- and it's easy to underestimate how complicated that makes analyzing American election data.

50 states, made up of 3,143 counties. Each county runs their election and reports election data a little differently.

We try comparing apples to apples whenever we can, available data allowing. 🍎

In the 2024 U.S. General Election, nearly 100% of votes cast were counted using tabulation machines.
