As the painstaking U.S. election vote count nears an end, we see the folly of early headlines (Sweeping win! Pollsters wrong! etc). Gap between the candidates is now 1.64%. No majority. 120,000 votes in a few states would have changed the result. Only Bush/Gore 2000 was closer in last 50+ years.
