One of the scariest is the Promotion Rapid Buildout of Data Centers. Without protections against the air-polluting facilities, communities are going to be burdened with health risks

Plenty of articles in NYT, Atlantic, etc. arguing that CBS canceling the Late Show makes sense for financial reasons. At what point did the appearance of impropriety stop being enough? What have executives done to deserve the benefit of the doubt?

this is a good illustration of what “compromise” on trans rights looks like. there’s no “everyone gets rights but we take it easy on the pronouns.” if you head down that road you will end up denying that trans people are real.

I can’t think of another fixture in American non-political media who has so consistently refused to bend the knee. It sounds dramatic to say in any single case, but the culmination of ~20 of these cases looks like civil society crumbling.

I’ve switched entirely to Markdown via Quarto, but I’ve also played around with Typst, including for my resume. I recommend both! If a journal really needs the TeX code, Quarto in particular can output it as an intermediate build artifact.
