Reading George Orwell’s essay “Notes on Nationalism” (1945) and he dissects a number of characteristics in line with nationalist thought.

This section describing “Indifference to Reality” feels like a forever relevant fact.

True enough. To be fair GoodReads does acknowledge the page count no matter the length of each individual book. So I guess that’s something at least! I’m personally hoping I can reach my goal earlier than New Year’s Eve this time around.

Nice! In 2023, I set a goal of 25 books and reached it. 2024 I upped it to 30 and met it. For 2025 I’m also setting a goal of 35 so we’ll see how I do!

Hint: if you’re worried about making your goal, it’s totally okay to pad your total with some short books like novellas and whatnot. 🤣
