ICE plans to spend $38.3 billion turning warehouses into detention centers ICE plans to spend $38.3 billion converting warehouses into detention centers, according to planning documents, more than the annual budgets of 22 states.

For context, $38 BILLION would cover one full year's extension of the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies that ended Dec 31.

The current administration's priorities are quite clear: jail brown people (many of whom prove to be legally in the U.S.) + leave more Americans without healthcare.

Nothing like a state Supreme Court Justice flouting the spirit (and arguably the letter) of the constitution they’ve sworn to uphold! Provinv once again that cheating, lying, and outright law-breaking are bedrock conservative values.

Part of me lives in a happy parallel world where season 3 is getting produced. Even now, I like to imagine that, if the live show is a big enough hit, Apple will greenlight that already-written third season. #schmigadoon

Here is my conclusion after sitting through Maxwell's deposition with her refusing to answer a single question about the men who raped underage girls, saying she would only do so for clemency.

She must immediately be sent back to the maximum security prison where she belongs.

4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.

I know everything is horribly dangerous and awful right now but regular Americans actively loving their neighbors is so beautiful and spiritually fulfilling to see and participate in.

AND ALSO it's very very funny that the right does not understand what it means to have friends and community.

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered β€œhighly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

Photos of Alex Pretti with Sara’s caption:

On August 16th at approximately 10:00 pm
I received a call from the ICU at the VA saying my Dad had sepsis and needed to be intubated to stay alive so Josh and I headed in. We were greeted by the kindest, most calming and warm soul who helped us understand what was happening and showed deep care for us and my Dad. He continued to show utmost patience and kindness over the next few days as my Dad remained in the ICU and we were there continually. It was Alex Pretti, the man shot today by ICE. If you see this video and don't think it's murder, I don't understand your thinking and ask you to question your heart. He was out there trying to help and protect and from the little we knew of him, it doesn't surprise me he was not afraid to be on the front lines of this horrible scene in our Minneapolis. Weeping for his family and all those at the VA who no longer get to work with him or receive his care.

Absolutely heartbreaking

I’ve never watched The Bachelor, so I don’t have a witty answer. But I’m one of the heathens who’s loved Survivor since Borneo but who didn’t hate the Underwood victory. Of course, I think EoE should’ve stopped at the merge. Nonetheless, It produced one of the show’s most thrilling finales.

Wise words from WEB DuBois to gird us today: "It would be shame and cowardice to surrender this glorious land and its opportunities for civilization and humanity to the thugs and lynchers, the mobs and profiteers, the monopolists & gamblers who today choke its soul and steal its resources."
