Hi folks! (GV)² in partnership with Equal Grounds and TAGR is excited to announce our annual pride open mic for the trans and gender expansive community. Bring your poems, prose and voice!

We will be at Equal Grounds Community Cafe on Wednesday July 9th @ 7pm. Sign-ups are first come first serve.

Washington State Passes Bill To Cover 12-Month Hormone Therapy Stockpiles “The bill will alleviate a lot of suffering,” one Republican lawmaker said.

1. A major bill protecting trans people just passed in Washington.

It makes insurers cover 12-month supplies of HRT which can be obtained at pharmacies, allowing trans people to stockpile medication to outlast supply disruptions.

A vigil will be held for Kat this Sunday April 13th at First Unitarian Church 220 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14610 from 5pm-7pm. Bring candles, flowers, signs, etc. Help with set-up and teardown after the event would be appreciated per the organizers.

We are beyond gracious to have shared space and shed tears with so many good folks at both Kat's calling hours and the Hands Off! protest today. Rest tonight and keep pushing friends, we aren't going anywhere! 🏳️‍⚧️✊️

Flyer for Roc Trans Mascs. Roc Trans Mascs is a Rochester, New York based group for people assigned female at birth who identify on the trans masculine side of the trans spectrum. Anyone who is trans masculine, FTM, and a trans man is welcome to come to our meetup/support group. Bimonthly on the second and fourth Sunday. Time is four p m to six p m. We meet at Rochester Rainbow Union on fifty Prince Street, Rochester, New York. Entrance for parking is on College Avenue.

With heavy hearts the (GV)² community recognizes the tragic death of Kat that occurred at School of the Arts here in Rochester, NY on March 25th 2025. Kat was just 15 years old at the time of her death. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family, friends and community during this devastating time. We as a community deserve better and need to do better for our most vulnerable members. Kat should still be alive and grieving over tragedies in our community shouldn't be the norm. We call upon ourselves, organizations, friends and neighbors to: Openly collaborate with one another to build stronger community safety nets for LGBTQ+ youth and adults during this time of vicious hate. We must be building bridges with each other, not walls. Use the power of your grief to strengthen our resources. Advocate for better protections and affirming practices in all institutions that serve our youth. Every single child deserves to feel safe and uplifted no matter how they identify. Make your voices louder for LGBTQ+ rights. Have conversations about how to hold each other accountable, openly call out bigotry and show up to support our fight as visibly as you can. Kat's mother has requested the community show their support and pay their respects in-person at the calling hours this Saturday, April 5th. The Empty Closet is returning! A trial issue of Rochester’s LGBTQ+ historic news and literary publication has officially been funded, thanks to a Genesee Valley Council on the Arts grant, with the support of Rathaus Press!

Judge Blocks Texas A&M Drag Ban: Trump Executive Orders "Cannot Override" First Amendment The Texas A&M Board banned an LGBTQ+ group from holding a drag event on campus. A federal judge has ruled they must be allowed to proceed with the event.

1. Huge! Texas A&M's drag ban is blocked. A&M argued that Trump's recent EO on trans people mandated a drag ban, and also argued that drag is obscene.

A Bush-appointed judge replied that Trump's EOs "cannot override the first amendment," and that drag is art.
