EVERYTHING you need to know about #Nigeria, has been said in the way we have reacted since POTUS threatened us.

The reaction of the Nigerian State and its cheerleaders to the CPC designation and the threat of military invasion is a completely instructive moment.

The negligence and lax inattention to detail is laid bare for the entire planet to see!

The failures leading to the CPC The designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) by the United States government, citing egregious violations of…

A lot has been said about the optics of Trump redesignating #Nigeria as a CPC, and what led to it.

I haven't seen too much about the diplomatic failures on Nigeria's part, and the withering of our foreign service that led us to this pass.

So that's what I've opted to talk about. bit.ly/47DwsA7

Lessons of Lekki massacre for Nigerian business leaders The social contract, the idea that the state holds a monopoly of violence in exchange for the protection of its citizens, was broken at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos, five years ago.

Five years ago today, Nigeria's military killed peaceful protesters in high-brow Lagos. As I write for Financial Nigeria today, the Lekki Massacre had an economic impact. bit.ly/4o0DHcs

Business Times also wrote an analysis in the same vein, and quoted me. bit.ly/43viYVJ

I just saw a video of Niger State's governor pretending to pray in a church. 🙄

Same wossup group as a million Bibles being distributed.

The truth is that #Nigeria's elite don't care about Nigerians being killed. They only care that they look bad in the eyes of their Western overlords.

Why #Nigeria’s strikes are a betrayal of the people

Perhaps it's what we reward as a people, but in #Nigeria we have built a country so devoid of compassion, that in 2025, some people think it's a flex to DELIBERATELY interrupt power supply in the name of industrial action, not caring about ripple effects.

The ultimate expression of power is restraint.

The ability to constrain yourself from using the power you have.

And there's an element of self-preservation in it.

Simply put, "Will I be OK if my adversaries use this power in the same way if the shoe is on the other foot?"

Back when public discourse was still sane, @elnathanjohn.bsky.social wrote an article about the Nigerian god and got roundly insulted.

Well, he was right.

Nigerians, especially #Nigeria's elite, do not really believe in God. They wouldn't behave as if this were the only life if they did.

In economic terms, #Nigeria's kidnappers in the last year have extracted more value, ₦2.56 billion up from ₦1.05 billion, for fewer people kidnapped, 4722, down from 7568, over the previous year.

That's some decent business optimisation.

2,100 years ago, the Romans crucified the surviving slaves from Spartacus's army. Around 6000 of them. Every 100ft along the entire 200km from Capua to Rome.

THAT is state capacity.

"Misdeeds".

The most worrying thing about how #Israel has conducted its violence in #Gaza, and the free pass its war crimes have gotten from the West, is that other bad actors will use these very excuses in future conflicts to justify similar behaviours.

Baba Eagles and Three Pussycats, don't win anything, but make all the noise because they have front tail.

Rishi Sunak embraces his Indian roots; Kemi Badenoch critiques Nigeria.

Why?

Colonial legacies differ: #India’s forged national pride, #Nigeria’s ethnic fractures.

History has shaped our diaspora's identity.
