I teach children's literature & I have to point out to students that LGBTQ kids' books didn't exist when I was a kid. It's awful that it's under attack now & we need to push back against that, but it's fucking magical that these books exist at all.

Obviously I'm worried for the fate of people who make art, but I'm also selfishly worried for myself as a reader. I desperately don't want to read AI slop. When I read, my experience of the story is connected to the knowledge that a person wrote it. There's a human connection I don't want to lose.
