As of 2026, JEP:HPP will require authors to explicitly report how they detect or prevent AI contamination.
We wonโ€™t prescribe the solution - this evolves too fast. Instead, weโ€™ll emphasize transparency and rely on peer review, as for all methodological choices.

A critical weakness of many great manuscripts is in explaining their theoretical impact. It isn't sufficient to explain what hasn't yet been explored; it needs to be clear what model/hypothesis/theory hinges upon your results! JEP:HPP requires strong tests of important theoretical hypotheses. (2/2)

One key insight from pre-external review:

Theoretical impact requires more than stating what we do not know yet, or even making predictions based on prior findings. Tell us what fundamentally depends on your work. What core assumptions or principles would shift based on your results?
