Alternatively: ChargeBlade.
Safer, due to the extra shield, but slightly slower. Also has explosion powers and a lot of swing swing and is overall more popular than the SwAxe... (i still like the SwAxe more :p)

I like the SwAxe.
It's capable of following the monster around, has that high risk - high reward mentality, you can swing a big lasersword around and of course... エクスプロージョン, (got a counter now too)

Oh and the name is funny. But it's a little more complicated to learn compared to other weapon types

GU is the last "classic" title, what made Monster Hunter the way it is. Loading zones between areas, a little bit of clunkiness, no teleportation from the map...
But it is still my favorite title. It has a big roster, flashy attacks, charming areas, 4(+1) hub villages and 2 hub areas.

I don't know if you tried any MonHun Games yet but GU is an absolutely amazing title!! You'll have plenty of fun with it, i'm sure.

If you still have that hard drive, it should be possible to access that data using data recovery tools (or data recovery specialists). It's pretty hard to get rid of data for good, so maybe you can give that a shot.
