Much as I love Wayne Boring, his style did not translate well to Marvel.

I was still picking it up because I had loved the Kane issues, but I wonder how long I would have stuck with it if Starlin had not taken over.

Tonight's movie is the first, and to my mind, best, of John Ford's Calvary Trilogy.

Fonda plays an awful commander based on Custer and gives a fantastic performance.

And despite having many supporting roles played by his stock company actors, it is much less sentimental than RIBBON and GRANDE.

Tonight's movie answers the age-old question: What if a giant radioactive turtle could fly?

I haven't seen this in almost 50 years, so it should be nostalgic as hell.

And I have the Arrow box sets with the other 11 in the series, so my kaiju needs will be met for a while.

Thanks!

I'd love to go back in time to that Expo. I hear a certain Mr. Holmes has quite reasonable accomodations.

Gorgeous building and it immediately brought to mind the 1893 Exposition and the White City.

Are there any more buildings from the Expo still standing? I know most were temporary.

Tonight's movie is a MGM musical from 1945 that features a dance duet between Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly when both men were at their peak.

It also has a whip wielding Lucille Ball and a bevy of catwomen.

But I am most curious to see the numbers with Lucille Bremer.

I got the international edition if the NYT and it had a different choice.

Mine said it was the 4 films in the FEMALE PRISONER SCORPION series.

Controversial choice in that the fourth one wasn't directed by Shunya Itō, but, if you love a genre, you love a genre.

Tonight's movie will be watched in the knowledge that one of the greatest actors of his generation is no more.

If you are a Kurosawa fan, he was probably in one of your favourite movies.

And if all you know if him is his work with Akira, please check out his work with Kobyashi.

RIP Nakadai-san.

First and last Leela stories.

Love FACE OF EVIL.

No one seems to like INVASION OF TIME, and I admit it gives Leela short shrift (never mind marriage, she should have led the Outsiders), but I've always thought it was visually interesting and the soundtrack is killer.

Don't have more than a surface knowledge of Latin American composers, so at the very least it will be educational.

Poster of Roger Corman's THE RAVEN from 1963.

Tonight's movie is a Roger Corman 60s Poe adaptation with a bangup cast.

The film took 15 days to film and Peter Lore adlibbed a lot of lines.

There is a scene of Nicholson driving a team of horses that foreshadows his later acting style.

And the people are known as Mackems, Makem, or Mak'ems.

Who knows what the latter means in the tongue of the Great Old Ones.
