I can no longer afford to visit the USA. Our annual travel insurance cost would be about £1700 for us both (old with health issues) for all the world except the US - or about £3000 if we incude it. America has, by at least an order of magnitude, the most expensive medicine in the world.

I wonder what resource cost goes into every household washing stuff for recycling, compared to it all being washed at the recycling centre. If they can't wash food residues off, deploy a squad of slugs to do the job! But don't waste power and water home by home getting things fit to be shredded.
