My annual experience when I was teaching elementary in West Hollywood:

1. Parents happy no issues for first several weeks.

2. 6 year old asks, "Who's your wife, Mr A?" "I have a husband."

3. Complaints. Letters. Gossip.

Scalia had some shocking moments of bigotry on and off the bench, but I do not think I've ever heard a justice talk like Alito is today. He is not even trying to make legal arguments. He's disgusted by the idea of gay people, and arguing the case for parents who feel the same way. Absolutely vile.

My best guess is the “fire Powell”
Rhetoric is not really about actually firing Powell, though I’m sure he would love to do it. I think it’s more about turning Powell into the new Fauci and the Fed into the CDC. He needs a scapegoat so his followers never blame him for the failures ahead.
