7/10 - Very powerful with how mental illness is depicted and the toll loneliness can have on a person. The way extremes of depression and finite levity of said depression was shown is just immaculate. This absolutely moves me closer to being an Anno dick eater.

17. Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind

3/10 - By no means the worst game I've ever played but something that consistently takes away from the enjoyment that could be had with Bubsy's moveset due to poor level design and unforgiving enemies

8/10 - Very very very good. I enjoyed this immensely especially for arcs I wouldn't even consider the best in the series yet.

15. Shark Attack

2/10 - I was unfathomably bored throughout its entire runtime. There are other aspects of the movie I think weren't well done, but my main takeaway above all is boredom.

Nearly every new Pokemon game as of recent, people who actually play the game say is surprisingly fun and doing something unique for the series. Yet people somehow get collective amnesia when it's time for a new title to pretend the series is bad and not doing anything new.

14. Chinatown

8/10 - Thoroughly enjoyable to witness the mystery in this film unravel. Every aspect of the mystery including parts that could be considered obvious was engaging. The overall idea its getting at is timeless and the acting was pretty great.

13. Promare (Rewatch)

7/10 - A stylistic marvel that never fails to be a wonder to look at. Very straightforward story, but most of what's there works and its by no means a weakness. Though I would've liked to see a bit more of the burnish and characters were a bit weak.

7/10 - Definitely the more enjoyable of the prequels. I liked getting a primer on the burnish and their group was just cooler in general

Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow Review Generation 1 at least online has gained a somewhat contentious reputation.

I started writing reviews for stuff I finish that I keep to myself. This one ended up being a bit longer than the norm, so I made it into a substack. I'll probably keep doing these as I beat more mainline titles.

9. Air

4/10 - A show with the DNA of something I could love but I ultimately couldn't. I'm sure the VN could improve things like the first half where the other girls' routes are crammed in. However there's some fundamental aspects I'm not a fan of that I'm unsure could be entirely addressed.

8. Get Out

8/10 - Beyond the exaggeration of uncomfortable interactions as a black person around ignorant white people, there was a lot here that captured the subtle but real experience of internalized racism that a lot of people have. Even before it flew off the rails the movie excelled at that.

7. Pokemon Yellow (Replay)

8/10 - Mostly the same thoughts as Blue. The anime stuff was neat, but I prefer the game without it. I enjoy Pikachu following you & reacting to things. Sprite improvement following Red & Blue was good. I love GSC sprites so I forgot Yellow takes a step forward as well.

N/A. Steamboat Willie (Rewatch)

4/10 - Certainly not bad or anything, but in age and scope isn't something I'd be that into watching now. The animation certainly is neat and does an excellent job at conveying what's going on, however there's not enough there for my modern monkey brain.

6. Pokemon Blue (Replay)

8/10 - A fun addictive time that rarely fails to keep me entertained. The story is simple, but still holds up with what the franchise continues to do and context from later games as well as the anime makes me appreciate it more.

5. Hundreds of Beavers

5/10 - A stylistically great film, but I found myself bored during parts of it and personally would've preferred something with a shorter runtime.

4. Takopi's Original Sin

7/10 - Decent bump up from how I felt about the manga. In part due to just going through it again, but also from the adaptation being a great one. Some emotional moments hit harder. Episode 4 was the biggest standout in terms of being elevated.

7/10 - Liked season 3 a bit less than the others. Mostly cause there was an episode or two that I felt was a bit weaker, but overall still a solid season.

8/10 - Still consistently entertaining and fun. Not necessarily better than season 1, but not worse either.

8/10 - Very enjoyable show that I'll keep watching for sure. Manages to be absurd and over the top, but reserved at the same time. I liked the whole cast & enjoyed their characters being able to bend outside of their normal archetypes believably.
