The most effective and equitable agroecological approach needs to have many voices represented when shaping agricultural policy and agendas.

Researchers need to ensure they include alternative voices, knowledge and experiences

My blog for the Global Food and Environment Institute at the University of Leeds has just been published! I discuss some of the opportunities for AI in food production, as well as reflecting on the risks involved.

A key focus of agroecological practice is understanding ecosystem functions.

Researchers are studying how plant-level treatments, field-level crop compositions & landscape-scale structures & vegetation interact to influence crop pest & disease risks.

Throughout October, we are spotlighting some of the ways our researchers are supporting agroecological transitions in Africa.

Agroecology enhances food production resilience to extreme weather events & pest infestations, and improves biodiversity, soil health & nutritional properties of foods.

Can we achieve food security and at the same time reduce greenhouse gas emissions? This thorny question is the subject of my PhD research at the University of Leeds. The first step: trialling new data and modelling tools like satellites and machine learning. I look forward to sharing some results!
