My boyfriend and I are about to take a dip into Metal Gear Solid. He doesn't really know much about the series, but he spotted a Hind in one of the art bits for the collection and has been talking about this chopper for an hour straight.

The game is a pretty big cognitive load, but Rem's buddies help to at least redistribute some of the brainpower.
Also he can put a brick in that pillow, which is fun to throw at people getting a bit too eager

I'm on and off with Deadlock but Rem is currently my favorite little guy. I really wanna learn how to play this goober decently.

Haven't talked much about Endfield in a minute but I found my first mention of actual grit in the setting. The UWST is a big collaborator early on but their security force is mentioned to have permanently silenced dissenting voices when the Band Accord was being set up. Hope we see more of this.

Anyway that was 3AM rambles about the newest gacha hotness, stay tuned for when Perlica explodes or something and I have to completely reconsider my impressions. 8/8

OG AK bounced right off me early on because of its storytelling style was aggressively boring, despite the content being more engaging. I'm more than willing to give Endfield the benefit of the doubt since the way the story is told is much more approachable. 7/8

Overall, these story grumbles might change as I get deeper in. I think that's the big difference here. I WANT to get deeper in, because the story is being conveyed in a more digestible manner. 6/8

It feels a little TOO cut and dry good/bad guys right now
There's a moment moment when the dude in the second area of Valley IV literally stands up and says "Don't worry, these are the GOOD guys!" TWICE? I get we're an improvement over the fuckin' Bonekrushers, but come on.

My biggest ding right now is that the Civilization Band factions in Talos-II feel far too cooperative. Currently, it feels like there is NO tension between these groups, just active and happy teamwork for the sake of the people's survival on this hostile world. 4/8

Now, Endfield does not need to have the same tone as OG Arknights. This is a separate game that has the space it needs to explore different tones and themes compared to the stuff on Terra. But there's currently very little friction in Talos-II, and that makes things feel loose rather than tense. 3/8

Endfield is a really easily digestible story that (currently) lacks necessary grit to make the story feel tangible.
OG Arknights on the other hand was this incredibly dark, gritty story filled with violence, prejudice, and death but was delivered like a dictionary blow to the back of the head. 2/8

Alright, finishing Endfield day 2 and I'm prepared to share opinions. I'm not out of Valley IV so all of this is subject to change.
