This further integrates WhatsApp into other Meta services - an originally independent app, which initially was available for just $1 per year without ads or data usage. This also means that Meta is consolidating its social networking monopoly. EU law was actually supposed to prevent this."
Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3

How do you nudge, cajole, encourage, direct, and get people excited about the work?
Do you find this kind of thing comes naturaly for you, or takes intention & focus?
10. Expect and prepare for community turnover
Work to cultivate an environment that seeks to prevent contributor burnout
People will need to leave/do other things, this is not a bad thing.
9. Make it easy
If you want people to join you, make it easy to join.
If you would like money, make it easy to pay you.
If you want contribution, make it easy to contribute.
8. Listen and adapt to develop contributor motivation
Understand that individualsโ professional / personal lives change, and so too might their motivation and availability.
7. Empower others in the group
Encourage people to step up and do more than even they might know they can do, when they are interested in doing more and have the bandwidth (i.e., donโt overburden people).
6. Foster inclusivity
Know what you donโt want in your groupโs dynamics and be sure to bring up things like toxic behavior and in group behaviors that can be exclusionary.
5. Intentionally build THIS groupโs โcultureโ
Collectively hold the communityโs expectations and guidelines.
4. Create agency for community members
If community members find personal and career agency in the work they do with you, they'll be able to grow, and grow your organization's reach and impacts.
3. Align incentives for contribution and participation
What do community members gain from participation and engagement?
2. Lead by example, both in doing the technical work and creating culture
The community will keep leadership accountable by deciding whether or not to contribute to the project. Authority is given to leaders by the community.
1. Establish and overcommunicate the projectโs mission and vision
