Ben Haskett's review of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
4/5: I'm not sure when exactly I became aware of Huckleberry Finn โ it was probably around 1995 when Disney's Tom and Huck was released. For whatever reason, that movie caught ten-year-old-me's attent...
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twainโ4/5. Aside from the insane ending, it's funny and fun and lighthearted. A fascinating window into the mid and late 1800s. Wouldn't recommend it to my children due to the dated subject matter, but it's good. Full review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Highlighted portion reads: "Keepiru defecated and flicked it in the giant's direction with his flukes."

The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury โ 4/5. Some great stories, some scary, some not so much. A little dated, but still relevant and very much worth the effort. Full review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Redshirts by John Scalzi โ 5/5. Re-read from 2016 now that I've seen a whole lotta Star Trek. Fun, funny, and heartfelt. Don't skip the short stories at the end โ I argue they're as important as the The Scouring of the Shire in LOTR. Ful review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

The Gods of Tango by Carolina De Robertis - 5/5. First read of the year! Young woman emigrates to Argentina in the early 1900s and pulls a Mulan in order to find a spot in an orchestra just as the popularity of tango begins to swell. Loved it. Full review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

The Snow Queen by Joan D. Vinge โ 4/5 stars. A wonderful surprise in my reading list of Hugo-Award-winning novels. Strong characters, captivating dialogue, interesting (and very sci-fi-heavy) setting. Full review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
