Gave away my amp yesterday. I havent been playing for six months and quite frankly the writing was on the wall. It was a really great amp but it belonged with someone who played far more regularly than me. I know there's this hype about digital amps nowadays but nothing sounds as good as Marshall.

(Had to try it on first for quality control, obviously.)

It's been good seeing him check his wrist with that old familiar gesture. I think small consistent touchpoints can make a real difference when memory gets unreliable - not an expert in the area though.

Dad is 78 and dealing with memory loss and we're working on helpful routines. He used to be a "watch man" but stopped wearing 25 y/ago after a wrist injury from falling during an evening hike in Athens. My son selected this Tissot. We thought having a watch again might help anchor his daily routine.

Also I picked the hardest possible project to pick. I don’t think I’ll ever do this again.. at least not for some time.

I have someone who could be the announcer. I’ll forward this to him

The reason I like watches is because they solve problems of usability. I found this broken Edox Geoscope Worldtimer and brought it back to life. The core movement worked but brand protections like the 12 o clock symbol + crowns were busted. It’s my first watch restoration that was done over 2 years

I met up with a friend who recently lost her dog. We spoke about how we handled grief, support and how we chose to remember them. In my case an orange dial watch for Topak.

This wasn't escapism. I was moving through grief, not away from it. Each transformation became a metaphor for navigating loss.

As I continue healing, I return to this paper world, finding new ways to exist within both loss and hope. This is what games can truly offer: spaces to be fully human (3/3)

In Origament, you transform between four forms: ball, boat, paper plane, ninja star. Each brings its own way of moving through the world.

I replayed levels just to exist in this world and let emotions flow. The game never hurried meβ€”it offered transformation as many times as I needed (2/3)

I lost my beloved cat and a close friend. Grief settled into my days, and I searched for something to help me breathe again.

I went about searching and came across 'Origament: A Paper advenute' through a Linkedin post. What I found was more than a gameβ€”I found a digital sanctuary (1/3)

Faheem Sardar - what can I say except that he was one of my closest friends. I can’t believe it. Thank you for always being there for my my friend. Rest in Peace.

For reference: This is literally a langa with a duputta. The duputta itself has been a sign of resistance amongst South Asian women. The people who appropriated it have aggravated a pride of lionesses. We take our shawls and duputtas very, very, very seriously!

You’re just angry they won’t let you culturally appropriate E.Honda into a hug machine.

Han calls it β€œinactivity” but it’s really reclaiming your inner life. It’s been a lifeline.

Sometimes the most radical thing in a world obsessed with doing is simply stopping. Feeling what you’re feeling. Being human, not just doing. (←3.)

I realized I’d been running from stillness. Instead of staying busy to β€œprocess” loss productively, I let myself sit with the sadness.

This carried me through major disruptions that sent me scrambling for control. Instead of treating challenges as problems to optimize, I accepted uncertainty. (2 β†’)

I lost my cat recently and found myself reaching for Byung-Chul Han’s β€œVita Contemplativa” to help me process.

β€œThe Burnout Society” showed me how I was grinding myself down - that voice demanding constant achievement, turning rest into a task to optimize. β€œVita Contemplativa” was my remedy. (1 β†’)

I don’t use this app a lot but it’s a lot more calmer than twitter. Talk about a major difference.
