And I doubt a multi-turn modality would drastically improve this.

This is fully messed up. I cannot stress enough how not ready this technology is for mental health.

I can assure you, its responses were terrible before. I doubt it’s now magically better.

As a reminder, when trans women got together to create an all-trans women team and then played against another all-trans women team, the usual suspects complained because that day the field could have been made available to "normal" people.

When you break it all down, it really just reveals all the individual sources of misogyny.

It's about reinforcing ancient social expectations and never, ever about enhancing or safeguarding play.

So why leave trans women with titles? Because the punishment is usually delivered in the form of restricting forward play. "You can't play in a female class" because "the female class is 'easier'"

Likewise, take women's awards away from "the non-women" due to "fairness."

Rather than remake divisions, classes, or rules to accept or balance transgender folks in, all of these designers go for the easy route of bans and prohibitions. They don't do integration, even though it's plenty possible and done in games already.

As Kat said, this is a rule designed to encourage transgender men who play chess to "stay female."

Likewise, transgender women are usually kicked for being "too powerful" and "unbalancing competition" and forced to compete in mens classes, again, regardless of game.

Even when there's no evidence.

I see this type of stuff a lot in my studies and work with games and rules. What always strikes me is that a lot of these rules are designed to encourage and enforce the participant to avoid transitioning. There's usually a benefit to not transitioning, regardless of gender or game of athlete.
