I have a rule that if I mention Leonard and Hungry Paul to someone that hasn’t read it, I buy it for them. Copy #18 now winging its way from @kirkdalebooks.bsky.social to Alice in Muswell Hill after a nice book chat on Saturday night πŸ’›

My favourite directions ever was when we were outside listowel, looking for my wife's uncle's house.

"It's where they were going to put the post office before they decided to put it in the town instead."

I loved Anna Chilvers’ strange and wonderful Tainted Love (and it’s fab cover). Can’t wait to see what she has cooked up next.

Sentence from Adelle Stripe’s review of Wild Twin in Tribune’s winter edition: Though this exceptional memoir has roots in psychogeography, Wild Twin gracefully swerves the blokeish craft of academics wandering through landscapes having a big think.

I wouldn’t say I’m super messy when I paint. Organised chaos would probably describe it best. My deep dark secret though…. I don’t squeeze the oil paints from the ends, I don’t roll them up neatly savouring each drop. I squish them in the middle and then deal with it/regret my life choices when the paint stars running out. Like a sad and confused toothpaste tube, my oils get squeezed randomly and without thought.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.
Also, don’t ask me about the state of my palette and colour mixing methods. Best not to think about it.

I have a confession.
