I thought that was what was implied, but I decided to stay in my lane and comment on the movie year 😬

It’s always been one of my personal favorite Coens, made in a lab for me (grew up watching Ben-Hur and sword and sandals movies like that)!

That’s fair, he was an S-tier character actor, but character actors are only recognizable if you’ve seen a certain amount of movies from the era, like the stable of famous character actors from the 80s/90s that are household names for the people who grew up on those movies

The “I don’t like black and white movies/movies from before 1970” crowd (though Robin Hood is in color!)

You’re in for a treat, he’s one of my favorite directors! I’ve seen every movie except his first two.

All fantastic! The first two are definitely in my top 5, and Last Temptation is up there as well!

The opening text of Master and Commander, but its the style of a Zohran for Mayor poster. "April, 1805. Napoleon is master of Europe. Only the British fleet stands before him. Oceans are now battlefields."

GODZILLA (1954) and THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN (1957) would make a really interesting double feature showcasing the mounting fears of the first decade after the nuclear Pandora’s Box was opened. Makes lizards big and men tiny!

You’re in for a treat! Whale really gets to shine, and the story is more complex, drawing more from the original Shelley novel

Both are great examples of horror movies providing an outlet for outsider art as Hollywood moved towards stricter Hays Code enforcement
