We gotta fight like hell to make sure everyone has the same rights.
If the GOP guts marriage equality, it’s not just symbolic.
It’s losing:
-Social Security & veterans’ benefits
-Hospital visits & medical decision rights
-Health insurance coverage
-Pathways to citizenship for your spouse
-Parental rights & adoption access
-Property & inheritance protections
Greg Abbott is once again putting party over people and pushing racist, undemocratic redistricting to rig the system for Trump and the Texas GOP.
They know they can’t win fair elections, so they’re trying to carve up our communities to cling to power.
Texans deserve better.
Equality is not optional, I won’t fold to bullies coming after any of our communities 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

Governor Abbott filed a lawsuit to remove Democrats from office for breaking quorum to stop Republicans’ racist redistricting scheme.
The lawsuit is stupid, but we’re entering into dangerous territory.
Chip in, help our State Reps keep fighting & continue the quorum break: StopTheTexasSteal.com
Texas Democrats are fighting with everything they’ve got and putting it all on the line to protect our democracy and block racist, gerrymandered maps from stealing congressional seats from our Black and Brown communities.
Let’s help Texas House Democrats keep fighting: StopTheTexasSteal.com
If they do, it’ll be harder than ever to hold lawmakers accountable.
This is a coordinated power grab—from Austin to D.C. But Texans know how to fight back.
The House could vote on this map as soon as Tuesday. Stay loud. Stay engaged.
This fight isn’t over.

At the same time, the U.S. Supreme Court has signaled it may gut a key part of the Voting Rights Act—the very provision that requires these maps to give minority voters a chance to elect a representative of their choice.

The #txlege redistricting committee just advanced a gerrymandered congressional map that adds five new GOP districts, despite hours of testimony from hundreds of Texans opposing it.
It’s a blatant effort to entrench power and drown out the voices of communities of color 🧵

Due to a death in my family, I was unable to attend today’s redistricting hearing in Austin.
Instead, I submitted the following written testimony as a resident of Texas’s 18th Congressional district.
Donald Trump and Greg Abbott’s Texas redistricting scheme is a racist power grab.
01.08.2025 07:50 — 👍 40 🔁 12 💬 0 📌 0Governor Greg Abbott isn’t simply playing politics with congressional seats, he’s playing politics with people’s lives.
The communities of Texas’s 18th Congressional district deserve a voice, we deserve representation.
Governor Abbott and the Texas GOP are hurting us.
The Texas GOP is trying to carve up our communities because they know their policies are unpopular with Texans.
Let’s talk about it on August 15th. Come out and let’s discuss solutions and how we fight back.

Just saw the new congressional map from Texas Republicans. It’s trash, plain and simple.
Greg Abbott is trying to carve up our communities to silence our votes.
We’re not letting that slide. Texans deserve better, and we will fight back.
I recently spoke with seniors at the Northeast Multi-Service Center. Folks had a lot of questions about redistricting and how it impacts our communities.
The message was clear: we have to protect our people by fighting effectively.
Because of Greg Abbott, TX-18 will go nearly a year without a voice in Congress, during hurricane season, no less.
That means no one to fight for FEMA aid or basic services.
And now the GOP wants to redraw maps? We see the play and we will fight back.
Today the people of Texas’s 18th Congressional District made clear: Enough is enough. Republican officials have targeted and attacked our communities nonstop. That ends now.
We will not allow Governor Abbott and President Trump steal our political power away.

Trump and Texas Governor Abbott are trying to steal congressional representation from Black and Brown communities. This is one of those moments in history—we must all stand up and fight back.

Our icons like Barbara Jordan and Sheila Jackson Lee had a history of standing up to bullies and corrupt leaders like Nixon and Trump. They had a history of fighting back. And that legacy will live on.
We will show up & fight back.
Houstonians - we have to show up and make clear we don’t agree with this. The Houston hearing will be this Saturday, July 26th at 11am at the University of Houston Main Campus Student Center.
Be there to voice your concerns.

🚨 Texas Republicans just released information on public hearings for their redistricting power grab of Black & Brown congressional seats. It’s insane.
Republican officials leading a state with 31 million people will only hold three public hearings for Texans to comment. Absurd.
We are ready to fight back.
