This is pretty freaking rad.

I had not considered the data privacy/unauthorized access element of LLM-based therapists. That's terrifying.

And tech companies have not been exactly good at protecting data, or not using private data for training purposes...

No editors? Fact checkers? You'd think people who choose to use AI would check that the output makes sense and *actually exists.*

It's so bad. So, so bad.

And for those of us teaching - what kind of defense do we have against the use of AI when large (supposedly reputable) orgs produce this?

Surprise surprise! Allowing scientists to have continuity and security in their funding lets them focus on research and ask big questions that require long term support to answer, and that are most likely to have big impacts for humanity. TIL. 🧪

It would be wonderful if industry partners or philanthropic orgs would fund fellowships from the list of honorable mentions! Unfortunately, I think philanthropic orgs would rather start their own awards (or end them, like Ford did)... and industry is very used to the gov funding STEM trg. :(

I don't know that *we* did, but our elected officials did. :/ Note though that most ND counties have very low population sizes, so the elected officials from most densely populated areas (and thus, the majority of NDans) may not have voted for this.

@nature.com breaks down Trump/Musk/Kennedy NIH grants cancellations. HIV, LGBTQ+, minority health related research hit the hardest. Both red and blue states hit hard, with WA, NC getting the biggest slaps.

Omg, I’m a US resident, but I had never seen this headline. Somehow this feels worse to me than the US in the 80s… but either way, that’s a sad race to the bottom for both countries.

Ive gone to a few chocolate tastings and they’ve been pretty awesome!
