4/5 stars. PKD is an impressive writer. This is the third novel by him that I have read. This story depicts a dystopian future that could become a reality, under the right circumstances. I especially enjoyed the ending. Recommended!
Book Review: Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke and Other Misfortunes by Eric LaRocca.

Imagine the worst movie killers of the 70s-80s were real, demon-haunted murderers and the US government brought them all together as a special ops unit to handle the most difficult, unusual, evil creatures the world has to offer. Highly recommended! Available 8/5/25. @dgvaldron.bsky.social

4/5🌟. This 2nd entry in the DCC books is just as good as the first. Normally, there is a bit of a let down when reading the 2nd of a series this unique, but not here. The audiobook by Jeff Hays is one of my favorite audiobooks ever! Highly recommended!! #netgalley #acebooks

Book review for The Once and Future Me by Melissa Pace, coming August 2025. See full review below, but I will say that I enjoyed this story immensely. A suspense thriller with elements of historical fiction, sci-fi, and mystery. #netgalley #theonceandfutureme

Game Warden Joe Pickett always tries to do the right thing, in his job and for his family. We all know, however, that even the best intentions do not always come to fruition. Highly recommended!

5/5🌟. Yuval Kordov is an excellent writer who has built an interesting post-apocalyptic world. I am fascinated at the way he uses Christianity in his stories to build and define the humanity of his characters. I enjoy religion in stories and Kordov is very unique in that aspect.

This Grimdark story about coming of age and the evils of war features wonderful storytelling. I look forward to reading more by this author!

Great tension, suspense, and decent character development. My wife and I read this story together and had a great deal of fun trying to predict what would happen next.

He creates wonderfully fantastic worlds & characters who struggle with the very essence of life itself. (Releases 6/24/25) #NetGalley #heartofthewyrdwood #orbitbooksus

Check out this Kickstarter campaign from D.G. Valdron, author of The Mermaid’s Tale. This new novel, SQUAD THIRTEEN, has a simple premise-horror movie slashers in the army; the execution-funny, gory, existential, creepy, interesting. Sounds like a great read!

5/5🌟. My first Murakami book was The City and It’s Uncertain Walls, which was a rewrite of this story. I enjoyed both books very much, but for different reasons. This story has much more of a scifi feel, with deeper explanations. I would rank this book in the top 3 of the 8 I have read by HM.
08.06.2025 18:32 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 04.5/5 🌟. I think I enjoyed this story even more than the first novel in the Saga of the Forgotten Warrior. The backstory here of Thera Vane, the Sons of Ramrowan, and the House of Assassins added so much to the history and lore of Lok. I look forward to continuing this series.
31.05.2025 21:47 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 04/5⭐️. The story that I read was not the one I was expecting; however, it was a better, well-written tale of mystery, friendship, mental illness, religious fanaticism, and horror with a depth of story & emotion that pulled me in quickly and kept me reading!
28.05.2025 20:48 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 04.5/5⭐️. This is my 9th Tchaikovsky SF story and one of my favorites. This author’s gift is his ability to humanize his non-human characters. He does a magnificent job of that in this story of lab-created super soldiers. Highly recommended SF and one of Tchaikovsky’s best.
22.05.2025 15:15 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 05/5🌟Earth and Empire! What did I just read? This 4th book in the SunEater series is outstanding. Ruocchio does a masterful job of putting the reader directly in the story, with all that Marlowe must endure.
I also listened to parts on Audible and Samuel Roukin is excellent!
5/5🌟. Excellent continuation of Peter McLean’s War for the Rose Throne series. Releases June 19, 2025. Highly recommended. See the full review on my Goodreads. #NetGalley #PavedWithGoodIntentions

5/5🌟. I marvel at Tchaikovsky’s ability to create & produce so many novels & stories. This short story is a well-written, quick prequel about what led to the events depicted in last year’s Service Model. We get an impression of what happened to one company & can extrapolate to the world.
05.05.2025 19:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 03.5/5🌟. I greatly enjoyed the story, the world building, and the plot. There were some excellent fight scenes in the last third of the story and Michel’s prose is top tier. My negative was that I did not connect with any of the main characters.
The sequel, A Graveyard for Heroes, releases 6/11.
I enjoyed all three of the Children books, but especially Ruin (book 2). Really liked Alien Clay last year, but Shroud may be my favorite so far, unless that is just recency bias. 🤣 I really want to read the Final Architecture trilogy and try some of his fantasy - Guns of the Dawn, in particular.
01.05.2025 17:30 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 04.5/5🌟. Adrian Tchaikovsky is one of the most prolific SFF authors writing today. This is the seventh or eight science fiction novel by Tchaikovsky that I have read. His stories always have unique concepts and interesting characters - many of them non-human.

A wonderful story about consciousness, relationships, & post-humanism. The author has demonstrated the ability to take complex, cutting-edge concepts, build them into a cohesive & powerful idea, then make the science understandable.
