Musk’s DOGE Announces Millions in Cuts to Education Dept. Amid Legal Pushback
Elon Musk’s cost-cutting team said that it had “terminated” 89 of the department’s contracts, apparently targeting its research arm.
Ugh. Just today I asked the NHES survey team at NCES (part of IES) why the 2023 survey data, which was to be posted in "late 2024" still is not on the website. I am not expecting an answer - or the data - anytime soon.

A Professor Put Her Class on TikTok. Thousands Enrolled in a Digital H.B.C.U.
A video welcoming students to Leah Barlow’s African American studies course inspired Hillmantok, a virtual university of free TikTok lectures from Black academics and experts.
All I know about @hillmantoku.bsky.social is what I read in the NYTimes, but I love everything about it! Dr. Barlow started her course on TikTok 3 weeks ago, and now there's a website (hillmantokhbcu.com) and 16,000+ registered users! Self-organized learning communities have tremendous potential!

FEV Tutor was 1) a bolt-on, 2) easily replicable, 3) funded by one-time pandemic aid, and 4) backed by private equity that wanted it big, fast. EdTech needs more rigorous go-to-market analysis and needs to offer customers more integrated, sustainable business cases.
