Maybe get things done for our country? Shouldn't you want to support everyone and not just your friends? You are supposed to be a public servant - no?

Spkr Johnson "Mamdani only got a million votes in a city of 8.5M, thats 12%"
The pop of NYC is 8.5M, but not all of them are eligible to vote; there are around 4M registered voters in NYC
That means Mamdani got 25% of eligible & 50% of who did vote; a bigger % than Trump has gotten in an election
I'm also quite surprised Speaker Johnson knows this happened based on his recurring response of "I don't know, I haven't seen that" in response to actions the President takes or statements he makes
05.11.2025 19:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Would love for Speaker Johnson to listen to this. Particularly where Mara Liasson notes that Ohio had an independent Redistricting commission and Republicans just chose to ignore it
Listen to: How Redistricting Could Reshape The Midterms (Live 10th Anniversary Special) - one.npr.org/i/nx-s1-5587...
Remember how Pres Trump said he'd cut off funding to NYC if Assemblyman Mamdani wins?
There were about 850,000 people in NYC who voted for then-candidate Trump, more than the number of people that LIVE in North Dakota.
Because of the NYC mayoral election today and my earlier post... it is worth remembering that there are 23 COUNTIES that have a Larger Land Area than RI, and a Larger GDP than VT, and a Larger population than Wyoming.
04.11.2025 16:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Population of 3 large elections today:
New York City: 8,478,000
Virginia State: 8,811,000
New Jersey State: 9,501,000
Comparing population of certain cities to states is always a little interesting...
Chicago would be the 37th most populous state
LA would be the 29th and NYC the 13th

I will say again - the CR that is being held up expires in 3 weeks; at that point something new will need to be passed.
Are Republicans working on that and/or negotiating to get votes for that? No. They are not.
So the bill they waiting for the Senate to pass expires in 22 days. At that point the gov't will again be "shut down" so at that point Speaker Johnson will what? Disband the House? They should be in DC negotiating.

I wish that during elections you could flip your ballot over and fill out a public opinion survey.
Polls are great, but they require a large amount of speculation to calculate what the rest of the population looks like proportionally to respondents.
This would be non-binding, but informative.
Yet we still aren't talking about unrigging the House.
Rep McBride in DE has over 900k constituents while each rep in RH has only 500k.
The "average" rep has 700k constituents which is more than a Senator from VT or WY.
Repeal the Reapportionment Act of 1929 and look at the provisions from 1911.
It might be hard to tell... but the bar where I'm hosting Trivia is playing Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (The Gay One).
This sparks joy.
As with most examples of Grok telling on itself, I suspect someone will open the hood soon

19.10.2025 13:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The bill they House passed has a flat expiration of 25 November meaning a new bill (or collection of bills) would need to be passed by that date. One would think Speaker Johnson would want Republicans in DC negotiating that next bill.

16.10.2025 22:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It is also worth noting that the Continuing Resolution only funds the government through Nov 25. A new CR (or the 12 full appropriation bills) will need to be passed by then - in about 5 weeks.
The House working on the next bills, but Rs have been out for 3 weeks at the Speaker's direction...
1. Young Republicans (the group in question) is for people aged 18-40.
2. One member is a State Senator in Vermont.
3. One is Sr Advisor to General Counsel the USSBA in the Trump Administration.

If we told you WHY we decided to not hold the status quo while we wait for facts we would have to make up reasoning that could be used against us later.

Going to the source and addressing the Apportionment Act of 1929 seems to be your best shot.
Again, I'm just a Drag Queen, but Gov Beshear has been elected Statewide as a Democrat in Kentucky in 2015, 2019, & 2023. The poll leader for the Republicans is Daniel Cameron - who Beshear beat in 2023.
08.10.2025 02:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In '22 there was a D in the White House; a slim D Majority in the House, & Ds had a 1 vote majority in the Senate. Today, there's an R in the WH, Rs have the House, & a 3 vote majority in the Senate. The gov't didn't shut down in '22 because Ds negotiated early with R Senators. What about today?
07.10.2025 15:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Please let us do things that are potentially illegal or unconstitutional for at least I week because I'm not sure how I can argue that it should be okay
06.10.2025 19:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The original Articles of Confederation were replaced with the Constitution because (in part) passage of laws required a 2/3 majority vote and each state only had one vote (there was no House). This, to me, sounds a bit like the Senate under the current Filibuster rules.
02.10.2025 14:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is simplified but accurate.
There are two core differences I see:
1. Good faith
2. The filibuster
The MN Legislature doesn't have a 60 vote threshold to end debate. The Senate Filibuster isn't in the Constitution, and Republicans removed it from applying to some actions recently.
