Notice a hike in your assessment? A majority of District 2 townships were reassessed this tax year—reassessments that can lead to increased property values and increased property tax bills.

Don't wait until receiving a higher tax bill. Make sure to file an appeal for free through the BOR.

Berwyn, Evanston, Norwood Park, River Forest, Riverside, and Rogers Park Townships are now open for filing property tax assessment appeals with the Cook County Board of Review. The deadline for these townships is August 5th, with any additional evidence due August 15th.

Promoting fair access to housing is one way we can uplift these groups. District 2's outreach efforts contributed to over half a million parcel appeals last year, including many filed by LGBTQ+ individuals who were navigating the system for the first time.

Two Spirit people have been revered as healers within Indigenous communities for centuries.

It is up to us to protect our transgender and gender nonconforming community. Only 44% of LGBTQ+ adults are homeowners, and homeownership rates are even lower among gender diverse groups.

Summer resource festivities continued last weekend at Greek Fest!

The BOR is your representative body for appealing assessed property values and associated property taxes. Our agency may reduce your real estate’s value upon appeal to more accurately reflect its market value.

The Board of Review is an agency that is in place so that property owners have the ability to challenge their property taxes through appeal. We understand that it can be difficult to make it to Chicago’s Loop for face-to-face assistance, which is why we bring year-round outreaches to you!

🌭 The iconic Windy City Hot Dog Fest took place last weekend, with our staff available to assist festival-going homeowners during all three days. It was great weather for the second weekend of our Summer Outreach Program, and our neighbor, Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, added to the fun! 🌭

Representative Ilhan Omar has reshaped what representation looks like in government as the first Somali American and one of the first Muslim women in Congress. Omar has led efforts for rent relief, tenant protections, and public housing expansion, believing that housing is a human right.

In true Cook County fashion, we begin Women’s History Month by honoring Ida B. Wells, a fearless force for justice. She fought for Black women’s political power, expanded education, and provided housing for Black migrants. Her legacy still shapes us. #HerStory
