I had the pleasure of meeting with Village of Bartlett Mayor Dan Gunsteen and other village officials. We discussed many issues facing the village, especially potential transportation and infrastructure improvements. I look forward to working alongside Mayor Gunsteen for our shared constituents!

February is Black History Month! This month, we recognize the vast contributions by black Americans to our nation, and commit to advocating for equity and justice in all its forms.

Schaumburg and Palatine appeals are due TOMORROW, February 3rd. Residents can appeal online at www.appeals.cookcountyboardofreview.com.

This past Thursday, my staff attended the successful Property Tax Appeals Seminar hosted in Schaumburg Township. Thank you to the Board of Review Commissioner George Cardenas' staff for assisting residents with their appeals and providing these resources to the community.

Hundreds Protest In Palatine, Mount Prospect, After ICE Agent Fatally Shoots Nurse In Minneapolis - Journal & Topics Media Group About 500 people gathered in Palatine and Mount Prospect on Sunday (Jan. 25) to protest the fatal shooting of a Veterans Affairs nurse by a federal immigration agent, according to organizers.

I attended a rally this weekend in support of the recent victims of ICE. I will continue to defend the people of Cook County and call for accountability for those responsible.

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, in which we pay tribute to the millions of people lost to us during one of the darkest periods in our world's history. Let this day serve as a reminder in these difficult times of our shared humanity and to reject hate in all of its forms.

Lead Safe Cook County - Cook County Department of Public Health Lead can hide in old paint, dust, or around windows, especially in homes built before 1978. Children most commonly get lead poisoning from eating paint chips or breathing lead dust.

ICYMI: Is your family at risk for lead exposure? If your home was built before 1978, lead based material may have been used in its construction. Cook County Department of Public Health is offering home inspections and repairs to residents.
