It's a bit an obvious one. Not many bands have become legendary after a mediocre first album. I am also thinking Metronomy, TV On The Radio and The Murder Capital

I've moved to Ireland from Brussels. It's sometimes funny to see how people are complaining of stuffs, thinking their city is the worst. But when you actually experience both, well... I must say that public transport in Brussels is quite good, and cleanliness in Cork not much of an issue.

I do think the Dresden museum does a good job on putting things in perspective. There was this documentary that has followed a few people (not kid) for 20 years after reunification and their struggle to adapt was real (and for some of them, life had indeed been better under the DDR)

It makes me mad that governments are mad for GenAI, but also completely unwilling to imitate their economic model of 'money doesn't matter! It's worth throwing money at things to get an outcome you want!'

I did a Brussels-Dresden about 1,5 year ago. It was better than anticipated, a bit pricey compared to flying (even more if you don't take into account the hotel night you don't have to pay), but I took a private compartment.

I personally don't like remote working much. I enjoy coffee machine chit-chat, obnoxiously interrupting my colleague when they are focusing on their tasks to get their opinion on a random idea I just had. But it's clear to me that I am more efficient working remotely, even without the peer pressure.

Remote working is a great solution for many issues that cities are facing, including housing or trafic congestion. It also allows for smoother development in rural area. And it also allows for employers to fins the best employees, even if they are far away from their offices, which they can downsize

I applied and was selected in the recruitment panel. I asked then what were the working arrangements. Well, I was to be 2 days/week in Dublin. I am living in rural Kerry. They probably found someone excellent for the job, but it's a missed opportunity for me but also for TfI I think

A few months after arriving, I found out that TfI was recruiting a product owner for their mobile app, and it looked like the perfect match. For me, but also them as my specific skills are not common on the market and I was bringing an experience that few have.

I arrived from Belgium about 1 year ago. In Belgium, I was in a leadership position within the public transport operator of Brussels, specifically leading the development of the mobile app, digital ticketing and customer information ecosystem. I have built an expertise in that domain

There is definitely something to say about Irish richest men's opinions being presented as facts on anything and everything, even if completely outside of their knowledge and expertise. On remote working, I believe I have a small story to share...

My experience in Brussels is that it's also used to justify doing nothing about car regulation: "if there isn't a metro station at every corner of the street, we won't take any measure to reduce car footprint in the city"

When I arrived in Ireland (with my family), it really hit me how everything is organized as if everyone lives in a nuclear family and has relatives nearby. I can't even imagine how solo parents are making ends meet. I linked that to the place of catholicism in Irish identity, but even so...

Cette utilisation des LLM est une des rares que je peux voir comme innovante, au sens où elle permet de réaliser des recherches matériellement impossibles à faire sans. Ça pourrait permettre par exemple de détecter des évolutions sociétales sur le long-terme.

Today, I configured the DNS of my domain managed through OVH to be able to use my own mail with Proton. A step to get rid of Gmail but also stay quite independent if a single provider.

I'm more and more convinced that right-wing party don't promote racist policies because they think they will get votes out of it, they know the votes will get to the far-right. But they also know that a bigger far-right gives them a better chance to stay in power, through alliance or anchoring.
