So many cozies to read. It's not easy deciding. How can anyone decide? There's just something warm and fuzzy about them.

Just checked it out. I didn't know B&N had its own press! I prefer reading books in order so I'm ordering the first book. And it's in New Jersey!

It's good to get a few opinions, rather than listen to just one person. I mostly see cozy mysteries with cartoonish covers like yours, and it fits. These are fun, relaxing stories, the kind you read when you need a break from all the stress of the day.

I feel the struggle. My imposter syndrome shows up when I don't get comments on my blogs or when other copyeditors who are ahead of me have dry spells in their work.

I haven't written any books. I'm a proofreader and copyeditor. I started beta reading myself. I love reading mysteries and if I ever do start a novel it will have to be a mystery.

Clarity is vital. I can't tell you how often I've had to reread paragraphs because of unnecessary descriptions or dialogues. No, I don't need to know what everyone is wearing or the minutia of their daily lives. A book that bores me is a book I'm closing and not giving a positive review.

Ah, the imposter syndrome can hit hard at times. First drafts are always complete messes. Even best-selling authors have messy first drafts. But don't give up. You'll get there.

Self-editing before you hire a copyeditor can save you a bit of money. The messier a manuscript, the more time and effort your copyeditor will have to spend on it. But why do you need a copyeditor if you already self-edited? Because you will overlook errors as you're too close to your own writing.

Be a bit suspicious of any unsolicited email. Is this someone claiming to be well-known writer? Well, no it's not; don't be fooled. Is it generic? Yeah, someone's phishing, hoping they can scam you. If you're not sure, don't click on any link. Look them up. And go with your gut.

Perfection doesn't exist in novels, because all novels have a few errors in them. But you should always aim to get your novel to be its best. Just don't keep yourself from moving forward out of fear of it not being perfect.
