As a Jets fan, I view this as a good thing, because Woody might get distracted by the shiny new thing. Giving us a chance to act like a reasonably functioning franchise for at least a season or two.

The popular alt-history theory of Char stealing the gundam, but it starts from Char getting killed in '79. My only real big criticism is they held on to what was happening a bit too well. It was starting to feel like a Abrams mystery box, that required a Char-sposition dump in ep11 to clear it up.

I liked the ending of Gundam Gquuuux. Im a big fan of mutiverse stories so this hit a sweet spot for me. Lallah's framing as a nexus being was a cool idea. Constantly making news worlds in an attempt to save Char, but couldn't really stop until they came across another true newtype in Machu.
