Back to work on Monday with a few extra kgs due to lots of lovely French 🧀🥩&🍷that needs shifting 😢

Pleased to report +1.3% wk, beating my b/mark by 0.3%
#SBRY & #AAF lead the stocks and #HVPE was my best IT.
Some divs arrived and were tucked into #TFIF for now.
Interesting to see the FTSE100 is just off ATH but FTSE250 is 10% below its Sept '21 peak

Portfolio Update: A positive week at +0.5% but below my b/mark, ytd ticks up to +9.3%
Decent gains by #SUP and #GLC, no big falls and a lot of others with no significant moves.
No divs from anything and Crypto Week has passed me by 🤷‍♂️

A bit of Spanish sunshine 🌞 (where I am presently) has warmed the pf by just over 2.5% this week 📈
Goodwin #GDWN, silver #SSLN and a nice recovery from recent lows in Caledonian #CLDN all helped.

Well that was a turbulent week for the financial markets. My portfolio was down 6.9% putting me 7% down YTD overall
I'm not panicked by that, I invest long term. I have 10% cash waiting to be reintroduced and my holding in gold is very positive.
Keep the faith, enjoy the sun 🌞

I try not to react when the markets are grumpy, what that actually means is I step away from checking my pf every day until things stabilise, then I buy!
Friday pf check shows I'm -0.35% for the week with a ytd of -0.01%
#CCC and #GDWN were my best 📈 and worst 📉

It was great to see Terry Smith at the Fundsmith Annual Shareholders meeting earlier this evening.
As usual he ran through the portfolio performance and gave some insight into his thoughts for the coming year.
No tips were given, but I'll be looking closely at #ULVR.L in the morning 😉

My pf was down 1.1% this week vs my personal benchmark of 0.9% and FTSE All Share -1.3%
#MONY was a winner after a good update but it still looks vulnerable to a takeover.
#SQZ released bad news which sent the price back down.

Some proclaim it to be one of the most important films of all time. I can't say as I have never managed more than 15 mins (on a couple of occasions) before thinking "I don't have the will power for this today" and giving up for something with more plot and pace.
I will watch it one day.

S&P 500 Return by Chinese Zodiac Year

I saw this on another site.
Usually I'd attempt to Anglicise it by changing the S&P to the FTSE out of curiosity, but I'm short of time right now, another day.
If history repeats itself in the Year of the Snake we're set for some low return investing ahead.

Airtel Africa #AAF.L is distracting me from my day job this morning as the share price reacts well to the latest Q3 update, up over 11% now.
It has also overtaken Volex #VLX.L to become my 4th largest company holding.

#AAF.L was below 100p for most of Nov 24. I topped up at just over 100p to reduce my overall ave cost.
I find it a good stock to trade in and out of, selling and buying around 1/3 of a full holding. I have a full position again now.
Trading update on 30/1 and USD:Naira more stable recently.

As so-so week, up around 2.1% compared to my personal benchmark at 2.6%. I am currently at 9% cash, eyeing up a few new shares but hesitating to pull the trigger.
#PSN and #AAF doing well, #DGI9 upsetting me today with a 25% drop.

Despite £300 today it was a bad year for Premium Bonds, just 2.6% return for me.
My younger daughter got 4.65% on her holding, boosting her position as family champ with 6 wins in 11 years. Older daughter 5 wins, me 2 wins, wife 0, some wins joint.

The average working person will be paying an extra £1000 tax (£40b / ~40m wp)

Yep, I generally keep things well diversified for this reason!
I don't really have time in the week to keep an eye on pf stuff closely enough to sensibly consider anything else.
