Rational design of a hospital-specific phage cocktail to treat Enterobacter cloacae complex infections - Nature Microbiology The Entelli-02 phage product containing five phages has frontline potential to address infections caused by the multidrug-resistant Enterobacter cloacae complex.

Excited to annouce the latest research published by our lab, which is led by Dinesh Subedi and is out today in Nature Microbiology.

Do you love phage? I have an opening for a postdoc in my lab at the University of South Florida College of Marine Science (@cmarinescience.bsky.social) looking at interactions between marine phage and iron, which is an important limiting trace metal in the oceans (1/5) 🧡#phagesky 🦠🌊

Bacteriophages target membrane-anchored glycopolymers to promote host cell lysis and progeny release Most bacteriophages lyse their host cell to release progeny virions. Double-stranded DNA phages typically promote host lysis using a holin-endolysin system. Holins form pores in the cytoplasmic membra...

The excitement continues! Check out my latest preprint examining how phages have adapted to lyse different bacterial envelopes. I found a lysis gene (lysZ) that is conserved in phages that infect corynebacteria mycobacteria, and other actinos.

Phage steering in the presence of a competing bacterial pathogen You have to enable JavaScript in your browser's settings in order to use the eReader.

Big day for the Gurney lab, first paper from the lab is now published. @sczerwinski.bsky.social led this work and answered a simple question does phage steering work when other bacteria are around? Tldr: yes! journals.asm.org/doi/epub/10....

Do you love phages? Other viruses? Cool science done by cool people? Check out this paper by my former bay mate @kfreeman.bsky.social and colleagues that sheds light on the cool molecular machines that are phage tails.
