This morning I signed translation rights for 15 of my Sensory Stories. They are to be published in French, Spanish, Italian and Greek (starting with the Greek ones). It is very exciting to think of all the people who will get access to sensory stories through this agreement. Meanwhile

Nadia from London has an idea that sounds such fun you'll be booking a day out asap.
"I've always loved museums," she says,
"but they can be overwhelming for children. For decades now, I've done something called 'playing postcards'
We do
the museum backwards, visiting the gift shop first. Each child gets to choose three postcards. Then they take it in turns to find that particular artwork in the museum and give us a little information about the piece from the details on the postcard, or from any gallery plaque. At the end of this treasure-hunt-style activity, we vote for our favourite in the cafe."

This is such a clever idea on taking kids to museums/galleries

the ending of THE GODFATHER, the best american movie ever made, doesn't work without diane keaton's final look --- at the realization of who she's married and what her life is going to become and what corruption lurks behind closed doors. unforgettable, inimitable work. RIP.

The front covers of ‘Do It Yourself: Making Political Theatre’ written by my good friends Common/Wealth and my edited volume ‘Being Black and British: Before, During and After Drama School’.

These two make great friends.
Released a day apart, they’re almost twins.
Maybe putting both on reading lists and in libraries might be a good thing to do.
Maybe.

Enjoying international cuisines makes people more tolerant, UK study finds Frequent and varied eating found to reduce likelihood of perceiving immigrants as ‘cultural or economic threats’ Whether it is the kedgeree of the British Raj, the Victorian “penny lick” ice-creams of Manchester’s Little Italy, or the battered fish brought to the UK by Sephardic Jews, international influences on the country’s food are longstanding, diverse and many. Now, research has revealed that eating international food does not merely spice up the diet – but makes people more tolerant. Continue reading...

In Swedish, a word for what you eat to bridge the gap between meals (or while waiting for the main course to cook) is stödmacka. It means "support sandwich."

A similar word in Norwegian is ventepølse, or "waiting sausage."

I think it won't hit people for a long time what it a gift it is to have Bowie's archive on permanent free display at the V&A. I went to the travelling exhibit three times. Not just because I love him, because it's like being inside his brain. It throws down a challenge for every artist.

News from Finland. A 9-year-old lost an especially good stick he’d had since he was 2. He hung up 20 posters. A few days later it was returned. It had been found by a 2-year-old, who wanted to keep it for herself, but her mother made her return it. She got toys, flowers and candy as a reward.
