Despite unforeseen changes to HB 11, our coalition fought to strengthen and pass it until the end. We'll keep pushing forward until our families no longer have to choose between a paycheck and caring for themselves or their loved ones.

Vote count 8-3. Voted against the bill: Senators Munoz, Shendo, Brandt, Campos, Gonzales, Lanier, Woods, and Tobiassen. Voted for the bill: Senators Padilla, Steinborn, and Trujillo.

Today, the Senate Finance Committee voted against HB 11, ending the chance for PFML to become a reality for New Mexicans this legislative session.

While we are disappointed, we are also determined to keep fighting. We will not back down until every New Mexican has paid family and medical leave.

As HB11 heads to the Senate Finance Committee, contact committee members and tell them that New Mexicans shouldn’t have to choose between their paychecks and their health or their families in their most challenging moments. 📢
