A few strategies I use:
1. Talk with students about how: 1) AI tends to produce work that is at best mediocre and at worst just wrong, 2) using AI habitually weakens the critical thinking skills that make college valuable, and 3) AI exploits environmental resources and content creators.

We decided to wait instead and submit a revised version with graduation outcomes to the Economics of Education Review. That is the version that is now published. Crazy how much grit this paper about grit has taken!

We got a revise and resubmit in a second journal, but missed the deadline because of COVID! The editor of that journal did not give us an extension of the deadline and wanted us to start the submission from scratch, as we missed the deadline.

We tried to publish a first version of this paper, but only looked at first-year outcomes and it got rejected by a first journal.

This paper has been a long time coming. We collected survey data from the University of Arkansas freshmen in the Fall of 2016, and we followed these freshmen to observe graduation outcomes up to the Spring of 2023.
