A bunch of year 13s from my school went to Parliament last week. Lots of comments from kids about how Christopher Luxon was on his phone playing Wordle* during question time when they’re not allowed their phones out in class.

Cool - so for $20 a week all I needed to do was fire 5,000 public servants, get rid of free prescriptions and subsidised public transport, disestablish the Māori Health Authority, and borrow a couple of billion dollars a year more.

Alternatively for $20 a week I could have had all of those things.

Don't worry, the party that is very vocally against "big government" and "the nanny state" will tell you when your kids are sick enough to stay home, how many hours a day each subject should be taught, when your kids can use a cellphone and what exactly they should be eating each day at school.
